Medical professional liability (MPL) jury trends remain a concern for many physicians and clinicians as they navigate the healthcare system post COVID-19. As large MPL verdicts continue to make headlines, it’s important to understand how to protect yourself against a lawsuit. Join Jenna Wright Greenman, JD, an experienced litigator and trial attorney, as she describes the current MPL landscape. Using case examples, Ms. Wright Greenman will review trigger events that can lead to litigation, as well as delineate best practices to mitigate risk and prevent being named in a lawsuit.

Jenna Wright Greenman, JDJenna Wright Greenman, JD, practices medical malpractice defense and has done so for her entire career. Her scope of work includes representing 15 different insurance carriers across the state of Michigan in representing hospital and surgical facilities, and providers in all specialties of medicine. She also handles licensing matters for providers. Jenna is the medical malpractice practice group leader, as well as the birth trauma practice group leader for the flagship Detroit Kitch office. She has a team of seven attorneys that she manages and mentors as they assist in her case work up through trial or resolution.

She also has been a part of the Kitch firm’s executive committee for the past three years. She is the leader of the Kitch firm’s Mansfield Certification team, which promotes diversity and inclusion efforts for the entire Firm. For the past 20 years, she has served as an educator for the Detroit Medical Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition, Ms. Wright Greenman is part of the invited team for Southeast Michigan Resident Medical Education, where she presents at least twice a year to new residents on legal issues.

Ms. Wright Greenman has successfully defended and tried to verdict numerous cases involving professional liability claims against hospitals and medical care providers. In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Wright Greenman is engaged by numerous insurance carriers and institutions as an educator, such as the Detroit Medical Center and other organizations, developing plans for better patient care and safety and medical-legal issues. She has been invited to give hundreds of lectures and presentations in the field of obstetrics, pediatrics, neurology and brain injury, physician practice guidelines, electronic medical records, legal issues, and other topics. Additionally, Ms. Wright Greenman serves on panels for National Trial Counsel for several different health organizations.
