Generational Patient Care: Inspiring Excellence Across the Ages

August 19, 2025

Course description

From the Greatest Generation to Generation Beta, healthcare professionals treat a wide range of patients who interact within the healthcare system very differently from one generation to the next. And while all patients need and deserve comprehensive and compassionate care, clinicians may feel at a loss for how to treat patients of different generations when their preferences can vary so greatly. In this presentation, Jan Brauer, BSN, MA, will explore how to treat patients of all generations with high quality care. Healthcare professionals will gain insights into how to effectively cater to the unique needs of different generational groups, ensuring that every patient receives compassionate and appropriate care. Participants will also learn strategies to bridge the digital divide, enhance access to care, and improve patient outcomes across all age groups.

Learning objectives

At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  • Summarize what each generation needs from healthcare
  • Identify how the digital divide impacts generational access to healthcare
  • Identify two action points to providing generationally compassionate care for improved patient outcomes
