Course description

Although medicine continues to change, core risk management principles do not. And while reducing risk may appear to be a daunting task, it’s important to understand that it doesn’t have to be a huge, time-consuming undertaking. In this course, we will take a look at the risks that could emerge as a result of your work with patients and colleagues, and in managing your practice. We’ll examine the key areas of risk that many practices face and provide concrete, actionable strategies for mitigating risks in each area. When these strategies are applied in conjunction with exceptional clinical skills, high-quality and safe patient care is the likely result.

At the conclusion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:

• List ISMIE’s foundational principles of good risk management
• Describe areas of risk that can be found when working with patients, working with colleagues, and managing a practice
