Course Description
With growing federal uncertainty regarding health policy decisions, the State of Illinois has responded by investing in solutions to remain a credible, transparent, and effective public health partner to Illinois residents and healthcare providers. The presentation will describe the current strengths and challenges of our local, state, and national public health systems and identify opportunities to create a unified vision for health to protect and promote the health of the public.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:
- Outline the current strengths and challenges of local, state, and national public health systems in a post COVID-19 world.
- Analyze the implications of federal changes – both executive and legislative actions – on Illinois programs and policies.
- Describe the investments being made in Illinois to respond to these federal changes and continue to build a credible, transparent, and effective public health infrastructure.
- Identify opportunities to create a unified vision for health bridging the gap between the public health and health care delivery systems.

Since becoming Illinois’ top doctor, he has led the state through the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency and is now focused on efforts to strengthen Illinois’ public health infrastructure and build a unified vision for health in every corner of the state.
