The rising cost of health care has led to increasing anxiety for patients about how they will pay their medical bills. While much of the cost of care is paid for by insurance, out-of-pocket expenses are frequently significant.

Learn from Ken Ryan, ISMS Vice President of Member Advocacy, about how physicians can help their patients and themselves by better understanding patient’s out-of-pocket expenses.

At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  • List resources for where to find assistance in estimating out of pocket costs
  • Define the components of the patient’s out of pocket expenses
  • Provide resources that can assist patients in identifying their plan’s coverage limitations
  • Describe ISMS policies and other tools regarding patient financial liabilities
