Course description

COVID-19 has driven unprecedented actions by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to allow expanded use of telemedicine. If you still don't have a grasp of the "temporary rules," register for this program for assistance. The program will also provide an overview on several key Medicare policies.  

Join Becky Sanders, Senior Director of the Indiana Rural Health Association and Program Director of the Upper Midwest Telehealth Resource Center, to learn the basics of Medicare Telemedicine reimbursement.  Becky will walk through the steps to determine if a specific physician office is eligible for reimbursement for telemedicine services under Medicare and review the appropriate billing requirements for Medicare telemedicine services, including Remote Patient Monitoring and Chronic Care Management.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to: 

  1. Identify the types of eligible originating sites for Medicare telehealth reimbursement
  2. Recognize the types of eligible providers for Medicare telehealth reimbursement
  3. Identify CPT codes for eligible services for Medicare telehealth reimbursement
  4. Recognize information on CMS's Remote Patient Monitoring and Chronic Care Management programs

Becky Sanders

Becky is Senior Director of the Indiana Rural Health Association and Upper Midwest Telehealth Resource Center's Program Director. In this role, she works with UMTRC consortium partners to provide a single point of contact for telehealth resources throughout Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan.  

Prior to her current positions, Becky Sanders served IRHA in the role of Indiana Telehealth Network Director, where she administered the creation of the Indiana Telehealth Network (ITN) through objectively scored Requests for Proposals for the construction of high speed fiber optic broadband lines for internet and dedicated transport services to the ITN healthcare participants.

Ms. Sanders has been with the IRHA since 2008. She previously worked in telecommunications for over 10 years at the National Exchange Carrier Association (NECA), where she held various positions in their Chicago, Illinois and Whippany, New Jersey offices.
