Cybersecurity Fundamentals
Course description
Monique Parrish, a cybersecurity/cyber insurance professional, will present on the basics of the world of cyber risk. The presentation will include the elements of a cybersecurity program, how individuals/organizations can help prevent a breach, what to do when one happens, and how to best mitigate the issues caused by one. This session is intended to help ISMIE policyholders increase their knowledge base of cybersecurity, cyber insurance and incident response in an ever-changing cyber risk landscape.
Learning objectives
At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the elements of a proper cybersecurity program
- Identify risk mitigation tools/techniques that can help to prevent a cybersecurity breach
- Illustrate the steps to take if a cyber breach occurs
- Discuss the importance of incident response and business continuity plans

Monique Parrish is a skilled cybersecurity professional with over ten years of consultant experience in strategic planning, problem-resolution and data management. She has experience as a cybersecurity public key infrastructure (PKI) subject matter expert for the United States Army CIO/G-6, cybersecurity directorate, and Identity Management Division. Ms. Parrish is currently part of the Beazley Cyber Services team, a team composed of privacy and information security professionals operating as a consulting service within Beazley's Cyber Risk business unit.
