Undergo your assessment
Your assessment will begin with an interview, during which you and whomever you designate (e.g. physicians, other staff) will discuss how your practice is meeting our assessment guidelines
. The questions found in these guidelines will guide the discussion and you can expect this conversation to take 1.5-2 hours. To help ensure the most efficient use of your time, we suggest you:
- Have all parties who you wish to in involve in the interview set aside time to participate.
- Identify a private space to hold this conversation.
After the interview, we will ask that you take us on a short walk-through of your facility/facilities so we can get a sense of the setup and workflow of your practice.
Next, we will need to review the medical records you’ve prepared. You will need to provide the surveyor with access to the requested medical records from physicians and clinicians in your practice, as outlined above, and a space where they can review them.
Finally, we will conclude with a brief wrap-up conversation during which will share the results of the assessment, along with preliminary findings and recommendations.
A few other things to note:
Each physician or clinician is invited to either meet personally with the ISMIE risk management specialist to share their documentation and answer our questions, or to provide a suitable designee (e.g. practice managers) who can perform these functions.
Practices that utilize an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system should not print their documentation, but instead provide us with access to the EHR and a listing of relevant records. We also ask that staff be made available to assist with the navigation of the EHR.
Thanks again for partnering with us in this process, and we look forward to working with you.
